Reviving Rosso Dino

About 14 years ago, one customer sat down with Ferrari Maserati of Newport Beach in order to commission their new Enzo supercar. This discerning customer wanted a unique color that represented the heritage that the Enzo was to carry. After much discussion, he landed on Rosso Dino. This orange non-metallic paint was named after Enzo Ferrari’s son, Dino and had been dormant for decades. The classic cars this paint was used on originally included the likes of the 246 GT Dino, 365 GTB/4 Daytona and more.

Ferrari pulled the paint code out of the archives and made the customer’s wish come true. Upon delivery, the Enzo showed up in a stunning paint that had not been seen on a new car for a long time. Since this Enzo used the Rosso Dino paint, newer cars like the F12berlinetta, 458, California T and even the LaFerrari have been finished in this rare paint.

Now’s the Chance to Own a Legend

Now, over a decade later, the original owner is putting this one-off supercar up for sale through Ferrari Maserati of Newport Beach. This Florida-based dealership has had their own Enzo specialist service the car in their Service Center over the years and has kept it in impeccable condition. Over those 14 years, the owner only clocked 3,611 miles on the odometer, keeping it incredibly low in terms of mileage.

A very thin line exists between street cars and race cars. For certain classes of racing, manufacturers are obligated to build street legal examples in order to be eligible to race. Known as “homologation cars” they must conform to some notions of civility, which mostly means lights, turn signals, and seatbelts. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual gathering of all things automotive, and its the best way to see classics in action. En route to the 75th members meeting, Henry Hope-Frost was a lucky hitchhiker who flagged down a stunning Porsche 911 GT1.

Built to compete in the FIA GT Championship, Porsche was going up against the McLaren F1 and the CLK-GTR from Mercedes-AMG. The late 90’s were a time of aero wars between the brands. Computer simulations were doing the best they could to predict airflow at high speeds, and it led to ridiculous spoilers and ducts of incredible proportions. The GT1 was a tube frame chassis that used production 911 suspension components and a 3.2-liter twin turbo flat six. The street version had to be detuned slightly for European emissions, but it made a shocking 537 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Performace was record setting, even in terms of modern cars. It is capable of reaching 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with a quarter mile in 11.6. We wish the US had the same street-legal standards as England because it would give us an opportunity to see more classics in action. McLaren P1 Hillclimb Record

Onboard a McLaren P1 LM Smashing a Goodwood Hillclimb Record

There are only a few cars that are more extreme than the McLaren P1, with the P1 LM being one of them. This hypercar is a road-going version of the P1 GTR, a transformation that was completed by Lanzante, a British automotive company. The conversion from the P1 GTR to the P1 LM involved a litany of operations, including swapping out the exhaust and bolts, removing the air-jack system, and more.

Recently, at the Festival of SPeed’s Supercar Shootout held at Goodwood’s Hillclimb, Kenny Brack drove the McLaren P1 LM like a mad man. Bugatti has just announced the opening of their largest showroom in the world: Bugatti UAE. This is the French automaker’s 15th location in their dealership network with the new brand design.

In a detailing press release, Bugatti reveals that 30 Chiron orders were made at Bugatti UAE. Altogether, this region makes up 26% of all Chiron orders that Bugatti has received thus far. Inside this massive dealership, customers can configure their Chiron in a private setting.

Brabus Rocket 900 “Desert Gold” Edition

If there’s one color that embodies everything luxury, it has to be gold. This is why it’s fitting that Brabus has created the Rocket 900 “Desert Gold” Edition, a culmination of the color gold and a four-door German supercar based on the Mercedes-AMG S65.

On the outside of the car is a suite of bodywork that gives the Rocket 900 its menacing appearance. These components are primarily crafted out of carbon fiber and have a naked carbon fiber appearance. Contrasting with these dark components is the car’s gold paint finish. Mounted on the car is a set of black Brabus Monoblock F “Platinum Edition” high-tech cross-spoke forged wheels with a golden pinstripe that circles the wheels. These wheels are shod with  255/35 ZR 21 tires at the front and 295/30 ZR 21 at the rear.

Powering these wheels is the twin-turbo V12 engine found in the S65. However, the Brabus engine shop installed a new crankshaft, forged pistons, and custom connecting rods, increasing the displacement from 6.0-liters to 6.3. With these modifications and many others, this car has 900 hp and 1,106 lb-ft of torque at the ready. This power will rocket the Rocket 900 from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds, while 0-124 mph takes just 9.1 seconds.

Inside the Golden Mercedes, the black and gold theme continues in quite the fashion. Black and gold Mastik leather covers a majority of the cabin’s surfaces and the sight of this contrasting upholstery is phenomenal. Special “900” embroidery is included on the headrests, displaying the amount of power that resides underneath the hood. Brabus even coated interior elements in gold in order to continue the theme on every surface.

In Miami, Florida is the new Porsche Design Tower, a building filled with luxury condominiums. This $560 million tower consists of 60 stories and 132 units, ranging in size from 3,415 to 6,684 sq. ft. While the luxuriousness of these condos is enough to catch your eye, it’s the massive elevators in the building that steal the show.

Built into the Porsche Design Tower are elevators that take the cars of residents up to their respective condos, where they can park them. Yes, that means you can pull your Ferrari up onto the elevator and drive right into your condo on the top floor where it will get a beautiful view of the Miami beaches.

Recently, Lamborghini Miami | Prestige Imports had a few of their supercars up on the 56th floor of the tower. The cars included the Lamborghini Aventador SV, Pagani Huayra and more. First LaFerrari Aperta

 

Ferrari unveiled the new LaFerrari Aperta just a few months ago back in September 2016, but it’s now starting to make its way to the United States. In fact, the first example in the States was filmed in Redmond, Washington at an event call Exotics@RTC. In this video, we get to hear the Aperta truly come to life with some revs. There’s also a blue LaFerrari that appears at the end of the video that’s a real treat to see. Heck, that color may be my favorite finish on the hypercar that I’ve seen thus far.

What you’re hearing in this video is the LaFerrari Aperta’s V12 engine and its 963 horsepower. This engine can rocket the Italian hypercar from 0-60 mph in less than three seconds and can get to 124 mph from a standstill in 7.1 seconds. This car is without a doubt the most extreme convertible that Ferrari has ever created.
